Chain Bracelets

Chain bracelets have designs that never go out of style and can be easily combined to reflect your personal taste. Looking at the bigger picture, chain bracelets have been around for centuries, evolving with various meanings and purposes along the way. Of course, we’ll take a closer look at what these meanings are. When we think of chains, we don’t just picture interlinked metal pieces. Today, chain bracelets come in a variety of designs, from thin and thick to simple or adorned with precious stones. In fact, chain bracelets today are somewhat divided into two distinct categories. One is the thick, large gold-colored bracelets worn by people in the Hip-Hop culture, while the other is the delicate, sparkly, and eye-catching bracelets popular in the Instagram community. So, let’s take a closer look at how chain bracelets made their way into our lives!

History of Chain Bracelets

Looking at history, we see that the earliest chains used in jewelry were found in the region of Babylonia, in present-day Iraq, dating back to around 2000 BC. The clearest details, however, can be seen in Ancient Egypt. During Ancient Egyptian times, only kings and queens wore these chain jewelry pieces. In other words, chain jewelry was a symbol of one’s status and wealth. As time progressed, the designs of chain jewelry evolved and modernized, both in Europe and America. For example, in the 1930s, Coco Chanel began designing her own jewelry using chains. Over time, the chain material was not only used for bracelets but was also transformed into belly accessories that dancers could wear. Today, with the development of ideas and more accessible designs, chain bracelets have evolved into more diverse and modern styles.
